Science Communication Workshop
Norwegian Plant Biology Conference 2026

A half day workshop on science communication methods and practical techniques. Participants will leave the workshop with a science communication piece in development.

Pre-workshop preparation
Participants should bring a research article related to their own work. This is helpful for tailoring the workshop, but sending an article is not mandatory. If you would like to share one, please email it to the workshop facilitator at andrea@northscicomm.com by 15 May 2026 — please use the subject line: Science Communication Workshop at NPBC 2026 in Bodø.
Please bring a laptop with internet access to the workshop.
Note: Andrea will be on a research cruise in the South Pacific between 15 May and 17 June and will have limited internet access. She will respond to workshop-related messages when possible (using the subject line above ensures she can find them) and will be back in Norway on 15 June.
After the workshop:
Participants are invited to email their finished science communication pieces to the workshop facilitator for optional feedback in June or August.
Workshop Facilitator Andrea Bozman
Andrea Bozman is an award-winning ocean science communicator and creative writer who works across genres including children’s literature, narrative essay, eco-poetry, creative nonfiction, and literary fiction. Her projects have received funding and awards from the Research Council of Norway, Arts and Culture Norway, and the European Commission’s European Ocean Coalition. Andrea holds a PhD in Marine Ecology from Nord University and will complete a Master of Letters in Creative Writing at the University of Glasgow in July 2026.
Lunch
Lunch is not included in the workshop fee. Participants can buy lunch individually at the university canteen during the break.
Venue & How to Get There
The workshop takes place at Nord University’s Bodø campus, in the NOATUN building.

The campus is approximately 20–30 minutes by bus from Scandic Havet (the main conference hotel).
